We believe that everyone deserves a safe, decent, affordable place to call home.
Our home-ownership program provides opportunities for low-income individuals and families to increase their independence and economic well-being through affordable home-ownership. You can help us spread the word about our program and share some of the details about home-ownership through Habitat:
APPLY TO BECOME A HOMEOWNER
Download and complete the Habitat Homeownership Program application below and send it to our office at P.O. Box 70, Hammond, Wisconsin, 54015.
Applicants must meet specific requirements in order for their application to be considered:
Applicants who meet the requirements of the program are forwarded to St. Croix Valley Habitat’s Family Selection Committee for review. Our family selection committee will then set up a time to visit and a personal interview will be conducted with families to learn more about current living needs and to answer any additional questions your family may have about Habitat.
Once we have approved a family, the selected family and St. Croix Valley Habitat sign a “Partnership Agreement.” And then we get to work!
A Brush with Kindness (ABWK) is a great way to inspire and engage others to take action in revitalizing neighborhoods and entire communities. The focus is exterior repairs of existing homes. Helping older, low-income homeowners safely stay in the homes they own and love is the goal of the Aging In Place program.
To qualify for the AIP Program, you must meet the following criteria:
Work that may be provided includes:
Habitat will pay all costs for materials and AIP work as a GRANT TO YOU, but a restriction will be placed on the deed of your home. You will not have to repay the grant unless you sell or transfer ownership of your home within 5 years after AIP work is completed. If you continue to live in your home for 5 years after work is completed and follow all grant terms, your balance is reduced to ZERO, and you owe nothing. The grant restriction is forgiven at a rate of 20% per year. You will also need to participate in post-project surveying at 2 months, 1 year, and 3 years after work has been completed.
